This session is particularly beneficial to senior business leaders who are likely to be a media spokesperson for a business, or anyone wanting to upskill in how to handle difficult questions and craft messaging that delivers. The workshop can be run either one-on-one or with a small group (up to three people).

Location & Preparation

The workshop runs either as a half day or full day session and can be run on-site at your offices. Y.S is also able to arrange an off-site location where needed. There is no preparation needed ahead of this workshop other than to provide Y.S with wider context of the business and needs of attendees.

Session format

The full day session will prepare you for all forms of media (TV, print, radio) as well as general presentation skills, with a typical agenda including:

◉ Introduction and overview – Looking at the day ahead

◉ Goal setting – Establishing clear, specific and bespoke goals for your session

◉ Exercise: Your first TV segment – Recorded mock broadcast interview on your chosen subject

◉ Skills workshop: Preparation and core messages – How to properly prepare for any interview and honing your key messages

◉ Exercise: Print journalist interview – A full mock interview from an experienced national journalist

◉ Exercise: Radio panel – A chance to experience what it’s like appearing live on air 

◉ Skills workshop: Bridging techniques and soundbites – How to handle difficult questions and how to bring any question back to your core messages

◉ Reviewing your TV segment – Playing back footage with detailed feedback

◉ Exercise: Broadcast interview and soundbites – Bringing together your knowledge and putting into practice

◉ Review and wrap up

The full workshop can be condensed to a half day session, covering core skills and focusing on broadcast, this would cover:

◉ Introduction and overview – Looking at the day ahead

◉ Goal setting – Establishing clear, specific and bespoke goals for your session
